Exploring Type

Tuesday 27th September

Today we went to Cardiff city centre we went round in group of three. We had three type of typeface we had to find example of in and around the city centre. The type faces our group had were nesting, ligature and condensed. There wasn’t any ligature in the city centre we were looking at writing that was all joined together , we later found out ligature is when ff are connected. We found a lot of condensed and a few examples of nesting.

Here are some of the ones we found:

We later used our picture we had taken on our phone of the different type face and each picked on of the letters to recreate on to card. The above example are the ones i used. I created the co and also the G from Gap. We then as a class each put our letter up on to the wall in the University . img_0168

This task now makes me think how many typefaces there are that I walk past everyday. It now make me more aware when I am out and about to look at all of the different typefaces being used.
